"As I approach a year of training at Crazy Monkey Movement, I can honestly say - I can’t recommend it enough! I still remember my first class, feeling totally confused. Unlike other gyms with clear instructions and movement rules, CM was all about exploring. At first, that threw me off, but it quickly sparked a sense of curiosity that just keeps growing. Each session is still a chance to discover something new-whether it's building strength, improving balance, trying acrobatics, or even surprising myself by climbing walls and swinging on bars (and the list goes on!). The teachers here are amazing. They don’t just guide you, they show such variety of possibilities. Before you know it, you’re scribbling your first goals in a notebook, inspired by your newfound love for movement, feeling totally okay if you don't reach them, because after all it is all about the process itself. With their support, I’ve become both physically and mentally stronger, and I've had so much fun doing it. CM feels like a place where you can show up, train without judgment, and be met at whatever level or age you are. It’s incredible to watch people come in thinking they know their limits, only to see those limits vanish in just a week. The community here is so inspiring-I've seen people train through injuries, and that level of dedication pushes me to stay committed to my practice too. The initial confusion is still there sometimes, but now I see it as a valuable part of the process. This place really challenged me to face my physical and mental 'boundaries', and while it’s tough, it is so so rewarding and special. If you're curious and love a good challenge, Crazy Monkey is definitely the place for you!:> P.S. Every now and then, CM offers some extra courses to complement your practice, like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Non-Violent Communication. I've tried both of them, learnt so many new skills, and deepened my practice even more! It’s crazy because I never would’ve guessed I’d end up enjoying them so much!"

"At Crazy Monkey, I’ve experienced real progress, both physically and mentally, through the process. It’s a place for curiosity, experimentation, and connection, and the value of that is immense. It’s also where I’ve built meaningful friendships."

“Here is the program I follow and what is listed above is the technical part, but what I actually enjoy is all the other stuff that is happening within the movement practice.
Here are some insights and thoughts that I have compiled during the last 5-6 weeks. I started this program what feels like forever ago; but I wasn’t able to give it the attention that I wanted to give it to. Like when starting anything new, you have to adjust other parts of your life to fit it in. I had a lot of negative feelings because I wasn’t able to get into it fast enough and it was harder than I thought it was going to be: physically, mentally and time wise. Honestly, the technical pieces of the program gave me resistance because I think it represented just another “program.” That created tension from within but I heard something clever. “When something is difficult, come at it with curiosity” -Thomas
I needed to hear this at exactly the right moment. As I got into it, I was noticing much more awareness in my body. I was able to find awareness in isolated parts of my body: as if I rediscovered them again.
As a whole body system I am more sensitive to where I am holding tension, how my posture is, and my movement patterns. These realisations surface even during inconspicuous moments, for example, I have become aware of which leg I pick up first when putting my pants on. J I was able to connect to the work Michael has taught on letting go of the tension in other areas of the body while doing daily tasks like cooking, riding my bike or doing household chores.
That’s really special because I’ve never made connections in the traditional fitness world to moves into my daily life. Like when did I ever think about that 90 degree lunge when playing sports? With the strength, handstand and mobility work I am definitely feeling stronger but it’s a slow progression. My biggest take away here, is that I’ve realized when things are really hard or hurt, how much my head screams and I let that dictate my actions too much. I would love to work on how to make that voice softer or making a choice versus a reaction.
Floor work is a whole other animal for me. It’s like brain training. I see the movements and they look easy but then when I go to do it, I don’t know what just happened. It takes me a lot of work (doing) and watching to figure it out. I have no dance background. I did dance for a year when I was a kid, and I remember struggling then on how to organize myself. At first I felt so awkward trying to find a transition or trying to get the move right.
A few times I’ve been able to find a couple of transitions. For work that looks light, it’s actually really frustrating. It is definitely a work in progress and I love the idea that it is never finished. In general, I am viewing movement differently. That’s the most exciting piece. What can I do outside of crazy monkey to move more without having the beautiful space and all the tools? This has also been a joy because it means moving more with my kids and family and friends. I am looking at things in my life like stairs, brushing my teeth, or my children and making into an opportunity to move differently. Everything is an opportunity. I can fold, change the speed, or use the other hand for example.
It’s interactive so it’s easy to find a way to move with others as well making it playful. I am spending a lot of time, money, and effort on this and I’m really enjoying it. I am grateful for my husband who is giving me the space to explore and allow me the space to let things unfold in real time without an end goal. I am also grateful for Michael and Thomas who are helping to facilitate my movement journey.
Thanks guys.”
